Retail media was already on track to grow rapidly, but the shift to more online shopping – especially in the grocery and pharmacy categories – has accelerated that growth. New players entered the space in droves, evolving the landscape from one primarily consisting of big-box retailers to an arena that includes specialty retailers across designer fashion, pet supplies, cosmetics, home improvement, and more. Expansion also reached beyond US borders, with countries like the UK and Canada seeing increased retail media prevalence.
